Call for Papers

The Scope of WEMDCD 2027 Conference spans the following major tracks:

• Design, Optimization and Manufacturing of Electrical Machines
  • Innovative machine structures
  • Advanced modeling, design and optimization methodologies
  • Innovative manufacturing and testing techniques
• Control of Electrical Machines and Drives
  • Innovative control strategies and drive structures
  • Advanced control techniques: model predictive, sensorless, etc.
  • Sensitivity issues and uncertainty management
• Reliability, Diagnosis and Fault Management in Electrical Machines and Drives
  • Innovative solutions for increasing reliability at machine and drive level
  • Advanced diagnosis and prognosis techniques
  • Fault management strategies
• Applications of Electrical Machines and Drives
  • Innovative and advanced applications in any relevant field, including energy, industry, transportation etc.
  • Special attention to the industrial perspective and to projects having a significant practical impact

The proceedings of WEMDCD 2027 will be published by IEEE in the Xplore database and will be then indexed in Scopus etc.

Prospective Authors are invited to submit their original, not previously published work concerning any topic related to the aforementioned tracks, following the submission instructions provided below.

All submitted Papers will be subjected to peer review, normally from 3 reviewers; the Authors will be notified about the outcome, including any amendment eventually required.

According to the general IEEE policy, serious checks for potential plagiarism, including self-replication, will be also undertaken systematically by means of dedicated software tools.
In case a submitted Paper fails the check, the Authors will be required to provide swiftly a properly amended version: failing to comply in the available time will determine the rejection of the Paper.

Any improper use of AI tools for drafting papers is also strongly discouraged, as it is usually associated to low scientific quality and lack of genuine innovation: therefore, it will affect adversely the review score.

Deadlines & Rules

Prospective Authors are invited to take note of the Deadlines:

• Portal Opening for Submission of Provisional Full Papers: 1 October 2026
• Portal Closure for Submission of Provisional Full Papers: 20 December 2026
• Notification of Review Outcome: 14 February 2027
• Portal Opening for Uploading of Final Papers: 15 February 2027
• Portal Closure for Uploading of Final Papers: 28 February 2027
• Finalization of covering Registration with payment: 7 March 2027

Any eventual updates of the deadlines will be published here and in the News bar and page.

Prospective Authors are also invited to take note of the publication Rules:

• Only the Papers provisionally accepted after peer review will get the opportunity to be turned into final versions
• Only the properly finalized Papers covered by a Regular registration or an Additional paper fee will be included in the Conference program
• Only the Papers actually presented at the Conference will be included in the official Proceedigs and then in the IEEE Xplore database

Submission Instructions

Initial submissions are accepted according to the Deadlines as Provisional Full Papers that shall be 5 to 7 pages long without biographies and shall include at least the following elements:

• The core concepts and the key aspects of any theoretical / analytical elaborations intended to be presented
• A concise illustration of any numerical / simulation model possibly intended to be presented, with the most important results eventually obtained
• A short description of any prototype / experimental setup possibly intended to be presented, with any significant data eventually collected

Both the provisional and the final versions of the Papers shall be formatted according to any of the standard IEEE Templates for Conferences in either A4 or US-letter sizes:
Word A4 template || Word US-letter template || LaTeX template with LaTeX Bibliography files || in Overleaf || LaTeX Instructions

The Final Papers shall be 5 to 7 pages long and shall not contain biographies.

The files of Final Papers shall be created by means of the IEEE PDF eXpress portal in order to secure full compliance with IEEE Xplore:

• Create an Account in case you do not have already one, then Sign in using your credentials
• Provide the Conference ID 72927X assigned to WEMDCD 2027 whenever requested
• Follow the instructions provided in order to upload the manuscript file and download the generated PDF file, paying attention to any eventual error message.

Anyway, it is suggested to use PDF eXpress also for the provisional version of Papers, in order to minimize the risk of last minute issues with the final version.

Both the provisional and final versions of the Papers shall be submitted via the IEEE-IES Conferences Community portal:

• Create an Account in case you do not have already one, then Sign in using your credentials
• In the initial page named Conferences available to submit Manuscripts, select WEMDCD in the All Series menu located in the upper right corner
• Select Submit Manuscript and provide the required information and file, including selecting the most pertinent Track.
